This says what Ascension stores about you and who can see it. It describes what the product actually does today.
What we store
- Your login: your email address and a hashed password, or the identity Google or Discord gives us if you sign in with them.
- Your page: username, display name, pronouns, bio, links, portrait, banner and how you arranged it.
- What you post: images, titles, descriptions, tags, comments and community messages.
- What you do: who you follow, your friends, likes, reposts, bookmarks, direct messages, reports and blocks.
- Your For You taste: a weight for each tag, style, medium and artist, worked out from what you liked, saved, commented on and followed. It fades over about a month and is what orders your For You feed.
- Prices and terms: if you publish a price sheet, its contents and its example image.
- Messages to us: what you send through the contact form, with the name and email you gave and a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address used only to stop spam.
- Presence: the last time a tab was open and the status you chose.
- Billing: if you subscribe, Stripe handles the payment. We store a Stripe customer id and the state of your subscription, never your card. Donations are handled entirely by Stripe and we store nothing about them.
Your theme, accessibility settings and whether you chose to see 18+ work are kept in your browser, not on our servers. We use one cookie to keep you signed in. There is no advertising, no analytics tracker and no tracking parameters on shared links.
Who can see what
- Public: your page, your published posts, comments, reposts, and the number of likes on a piece.
- Only you: who you follow, your bookmarks, who you have blocked, your drafts and your For You taste. Nobody can see or count your followers — including you.
- You and one other person: a friendship, a direct message, and who liked a piece (the artist can see who liked their own work).
- Friends only: your online status.
- Moderators: reports, and what a report quotes. Moderators cannot open your direct messages; they see only a message somebody in the conversation reported.
Who else handles it
- Supabase — database, sign-in and image storage.
- Vercel — hosting.
- Stripe — payments, if you subscribe.
- Brevo — sign-up and password emails, and delivering contact form messages to us.
We do not sell your data or your work, and we do not use either to train AI models.
Your choices
- Edit or remove anything on your page from Settings and the page editor.
- Delete a post, comment or message you made at any time.
- Delete your account from Settings → Account. Your page, posts, images, comments, messages and bookmarks are removed and any subscription is cancelled. Backups roll off within 30 days.
- For a copy of your data, or to exercise rights you have under laws such as the GDPR, use the contact form.
Children
Ascension is not for anyone under 13. If you believe a child has an account, tell us through the contact form and we will remove it.
